Blazing Nobunaga

Blazing Nobunaga, known in Japan as Moeyo Ken, is a historical manga series written and illustrated by Kazuhiko Shimamoto. Published in the late 1990s, the work reimagines the life of the legendary Sengoku period warlord Oda Nobunaga through Shimamoto’s signature high-energy, passionate narrative style. The series was created to inject a sense of intense, melodramatic fervor into the historical genre, a hallmark of Shimamoto's broader body of work which often focuses on the raw ambition and burning spirit of its protagonists.

The visual design of the series reflects Shimamoto’s classic, muscular aesthetic, emphasizing dynamic poses and exaggerated emotional expressions that serve to heighten the tension of the era's conflicts. Upon its release, it was well-received by fans of the author’s energetic approach to storytelling. It stands as a notable entry in his bibliography, demonstrating his ability to reinterpret dense historical events into accessible, spirited tales of character-driven drama.
