Where it came from
Hero Company is a manga series written and illustrated by Kazuhiko Shimamoto, serialized in Monthly Hero's magazine starting in the early 2010s. Shimamoto is well-known for his energetic, highly expressive art style and his frequent exploration of the tokusatsu and manga creator subcultures, and this work serves as a satirical yet affectionate look at the logistics and bureaucracy involved in managing a team of professional superheroes.
The narrative follows a corporate entity tasked with maintaining peace and public order, focusing on the comedic friction between the idealism of traditional hero tropes and the mundane realities of office politics. Critics and fans of Shimamoto often highlight the series for its meta-commentary on the genre, viewing it as a logical extension of the author's longstanding fascination with the passion and professional strain inherent in creative and heroic endeavors.
