Glitch Witch

Glitch Witch represents a distinct experimental foray by the acclaimed manga artist Shirow Masamune. Known primarily for his seminal works like Ghost in the Shell and Appleseed, Masamune transitioned here into a visual exploration that leans heavily into digital manipulation and collage-based aesthetics, reflecting the burgeoning fascination with computer-generated art and cyberpunk motifs during the late twentieth century.

The volume serves as a stylistic departure from his traditional narrative-driven manga, focusing instead on his evolving interest in complex mechanical design and surrealist character composition. While it received a mixed reception from purists who preferred his linear storytelling, the collection is widely appreciated by scholars and fans for its intricate, layered artistic technique and its place as a technical time capsule of the transition toward digital illustration in professional manga production.
