Jenaische allgemeine Literatur-Zeitung. Jahrg. 1-[38. With] Intelligenzblatt. Jahrg. 1-[38. And] Ergänzungsblätter. Jahrg. 1-[29].

The Jenaische allgemeine Literatur-Zeitung was established in 1804 in Jena, emerging as a continuation of the influential Allgemeine Literatur-Zeitung which had previously relocated to Halle. Published during a period of immense intellectual ferment in Germany, it served as a primary organ for the critical discourse of the era, reflecting the complex philosophical and literary shifts occurring within the university town of Jena and its surrounding intellectual circles.

The publication was designed to provide rigorous reviews and academic commentary, heavily influenced by the presence of prominent thinkers associated with the University of Jena. Its design and editorial strategy focused on maintaining a standard of high-level intellectual engagement, acting as a bridge between the rigorous scholarship of the Enlightenment and the emerging voices of German Romanticism. Over its decades of operation, it served as a significant barometer for the reception of contemporary literature and scientific inquiry in the early nineteenth century.
