Liverleaf

Liverleaf, known in Japan as Misumisou, is a harrowing psychological manga series written and illustrated by Rensuke Oshikiri. Originally serialized in the seinen magazine Monthly Manga Club between 2007 and 2009, the narrative centers on a young girl named Haruka Nozaki who becomes the target of a brutal campaign of bullying after moving to a rural town. The work is defined by Oshikiri’s signature juxtaposition of clean, minimalist character designs with visceral, graphic depictions of violence, forcing a confrontation with the stark realities of isolation and societal cruelty.

The series gained significant notoriety for its unflinching tone and dark subject matter, solidifying Oshikiri's reputation as a creator unafraid to explore the darkest impulses of human behavior. Beyond its initial release, the story was adapted into a live-action film in 2018, which further elevated the profile of the original source material. It remains a notable title in the horror-manga genre, frequently discussed by enthusiasts of psychological thrillers for its bleak atmosphere and its intense focus on the psychological transformation of its protagonist.
