Ludwig B Vol. 2

Ludwig B, an unfinished manga series by the prolific Osamu Tezuka, was serialized in the magazine Comic Tom starting in 1987. Tezuka, often regarded as the father of manga, intended the work to be a comprehensive, fictionalized biography of Ludwig van Beethoven, exploring the composer's turbulent life and artistic evolution. The narrative reflects Tezuka's lifelong interest in music and history, utilizing his signature expressive character designs to contrast the gravity of Beethoven's compositions with the dramatic flair of a serialized historical epic.

Following Tezuka's death in 1989, the series remained incomplete, serving as a poignant final project in the legendary creator's vast bibliography. The design of the volumes emphasizes the transition from the composer's early childhood under his father's strict tutelage toward his rising fame in Vienna. Critical reception has focused on the work's historical significance as a window into Tezuka's creative process during his final years, with readers often noting the bittersweet nature of a masterpiece left unfinished by one of the medium's most influential artists.
