Neuer Theater-Almanach: Theatergeschichtliches Jahr- und Adressen-Buch

The Neuer Theater-Almanach was published annually beginning in 1890 by the Genossenschaft Deutscher Bühnen-Angehöriger, a prominent German stage actors' union. It served as the definitive reference work for the professional theater industry in German-speaking regions, documenting playbills, personnel directories, and the socio-economic conditions of those working in the performing arts at the turn of the century.

The publication was designed as a utilitarian resource, capturing the rapid expansion and formalization of the theater system during the Wilhelmine era. It provided detailed administrative lists and historical statistics that scholars today rely upon to reconstruct the cultural landscape of the time. The almanac was highly regarded for its thoroughness, acting as both an essential business tool for theater directors and a comprehensive record for historians tracking the trajectory of German drama and performance.
