Sengoku Basara 2 Anthology Comic

The Sengoku Basara 2 Anthology Comic was released in the mid-2000s during the height of the franchise's popularity following the success of the PlayStation 2 action game. These anthologies were commissioned by publishers, such as Enterbrain or Square Enix, to capitalize on the fervent fanbase that had grown around the stylized, anachronistic retelling of Japan's Sengoku period. By featuring short stories and illustrations from various artists, these volumes provided a playful, often comedic perspective on the game's exaggerated historical figures.

The contributions by artists like Kikuyarou are characteristic of the 'doujinshi-style' commercial works that flourished in the era. Kikuyarou’s work specifically leaned into the character-driven humor and dynamic interactions that defined the Sengoku Basara fandom. These anthologies were generally well-received by devotees of the series who valued the expanded lore and the lighthearted, often fan-service-oriented interpretations of their favorite warlords, serving as both promotional material and a collector’s piece for the dedicated gaming community.
