Una famiglia di patrioti emiliani: i Giglioli di Brescello ; con appendice di 26 lettere inedite di patrrioti del tempo

Published in the early 20th century, this volume serves as a historical account of the Giglioli family of Brescello, Italy, during the period of the Risorgimento. Written by Constance H. D. Giglioli Stocker, the work functions as both a genealogical record and a biographical tribute to a family deeply embedded in the patriotic movements of the 19th century. The inclusion of twenty-six previously unpublished letters provides a primary source perspective on the personal motivations and clandestine correspondence that characterized the struggle for Italian unification.

The book is a product of the historiographical interest in local history and familial legacies that flourished during this era, seeking to preserve the narratives of individual patriots who might otherwise be lost to broader national histories. Constance Giglioli’s research reflects a rigorous commitment to documentation, aiming to situate the Brescello family within the larger context of regional rebellion and political fervor in Emilia-Romagna. While the work is largely academic in its archival approach, it remains a significant reference for researchers interested in the personal archives of Italian revolutionary figures.
