Where it came from
Underground Kids -Gakuen Onmitsu Torimonochou- is a manga series authored by Nana Shiiba, published during a period in the early 2000s when the shojo genre frequently explored blends of school life and supernatural or historical intrigue. The narrative centers on a secret agency operating within a high school setting, utilizing themes of undercover activity and adolescent drama that were characteristic of the period's output for teen audiences.
The design and artistic direction reflect Shiiba's distinct style, which emphasizes expressive character features and dynamic panel layouts common in serialized shojo manga of the era. The work was released through standard manga publishing channels in Japan, aimed at readers who enjoyed lighthearted action combined with romantic undertones, and it remains a representation of the niche school-based fantasy subgenre prevalent in that publishing cycle.
