Edward.Newgate

The Edward Newgate character card, identified as OP17-005, originates from the One Piece Card Game, specifically the expansion set titled The World's Strongest Warriors. Released as part of the game's ongoing efforts to translate the vast narrative of Eiichiro Oda’s manga into a competitive tabletop format, the card features the iconic Whitebeard captain in his prime. The design aesthetic draws heavily from the series' distinct artistic style, emphasizing the character's imposing physical stature and his role as a foundational figure in the lore of the Grand Line.

The development of the card focused on capturing the immense power and defensive capabilities associated with Edward Newgate. Illustrators tasked with the One Piece set design prioritize character recognition and the kinetic energy found in the manga panels. Upon its release, the card became a focal point for players due to its specific mechanics, which reflect Newgate's reputation as one of the most formidable combatants in the series. It has since become a staple for collectors who favor character-driven cards that anchor the game's competitive meta.
