Where it came from
Higuma, featured as a character card in the One Piece Card Game's 'Carrying On His Will' expansion (OP-13), represents a pivotal figure from the series' inaugural chapter. Designed as a low-cost card to support early-game board presence, the illustration captures the mountain bandit's aggressive demeanor during the flashback sequence in Foosha Village. His inclusion in this set serves to highlight the foundational moments of the narrative, specifically the inciting conflict between Higuma and Shanks that ultimately led to Luffy's decision to become a pirate.
The card was released as part of the broader 13th booster set, which focuses on various legacy characters and the themes of inheritance throughout Eiichiro Oda's expansive story. Like many common-tier character cards in the Bandai-produced game, it is designed for both functional gameplay utility and thematic completeness, allowing players to recreate the historical arcs of the manga. It was well received by players for its technical role in specific deck archetypes rather than its rarity, maintaining the game's focus on strategic synergy within the color-coded deck system.
