Jesus Burgess

Jesus Burgess, appearing as card OP09-086 in the ST-27 -BLACK Marshall.D.Teach- Starter Deck, was released in 2024 as part of the One Piece Card Game's ninth booster set cycle. This set focuses on the Blackbeard Pirates, depicting the crew members who serve under the antagonist Marshall D. Teach. The design reflects the character's role as the helmsman and captain of the first ship of the Blackbeard Pirates, utilizing the game's black-themed color identity associated with the crew's dark, opportunistic nature.

The card features artwork consistent with the game’s aesthetic of translating Eiichiro Oda’s manga style into a competitive card format. In the context of the game's mechanics, this card provides synergy with the Blackbeard leader card, emphasizing the manipulative and aggressive combat style characteristic of the Blackbeard Pirates. It was received by the player base as a staple for deck building within the specific leader archetype of the set, highlighting the tactical expansion of the game’s meta-game during the late 2024 releases.
