Where it came from
The Kawamatsu card (OP12-023) was issued as part of the promotional support for the Legacy of the Master expansion within the One Piece Card Game. Released to coincide with organized play events, these cards serve as markers of participation and skill, specifically highlighting the character Kawamatsu, a loyal retainer of the Kozuki clan from the Wano Country arc of the series.
The design draws heavily from the aesthetic of Eiichiro Oda's manga, focusing on the Kappa-like appearance of the character. Illustrators for the game prioritize dynamic poses and color palettes that reflect the high-stakes narrative of the Wano arc, aiming to appeal to both competitive players looking to integrate the card's specific abilities into their decks and collectors who value thematic consistency within the expansive One Piece trading card ecosystem.
