Where it came from
The Kuzan (OP02-096) character card was originally introduced as a Secret Rare in the second One Piece Card Game expansion, Paramount War. The alternate art version featured in The Best premium booster set reimagines the character—the former Marine Admiral known as Aokiji—with stylized, high-contrast aesthetics that emphasize his ice-based powers and his detached, morally ambiguous persona within the series' narrative.
The design of this specific card prioritizes a more cinematic illustration style compared to standard set releases, intended to appeal to both competitive players and collectors of high-end card game art. Upon release, the alternate art variants became highly sought after, as the character remains a staple in controlling archetypes within the game's meta, often lauded for the balance between its striking visual composition and its tactical utility on the battlefield.
