Kuzan (Alternate Art)

The Kuzan character card, numbered OP02-096, was released as part of the Paramount War expansion for the One Piece Card Game in 2022. Representing the formidable Marine Admiral, the card depicts the character utilizing his chilly Hie Hie no Mi powers, a central visual element for the set which focused heavily on the conflict at Marineford. As an Alternate Art variant, this iteration features unique, high-contrast illustration work that distinguishes it from the standard card stock, emphasizing the stoic and intimidating presence of the character as he appears in the source manga.

The design of this card aligns with the broader aesthetic direction of the Paramount War set, which prioritized dramatic, action-oriented portraiture for its high-rarity cards. Illustrators tasked with these alternate versions sought to capture the specific gravitas of the Admiral during his most iconic narrative moments. Upon its release, the card was received warmly by both players and collectors, becoming a centerpiece of the set due to its utility in competitive deck builds and the scarcity afforded by its alternate artwork finish.
