Where it came from
Released in late 2022 as part of the Paramount War expansion for the One Piece Card Game, this card captures the formidable Admiral Kuzan, formerly known as Aokiji. The set was designed to center on the climactic Marineford Arc, reflecting the pivotal clash between the Marines and the Whitebeard Pirates. As a Secret Rare Alternate Art card, it represents the strategic height of the Navy color archetype, emphasizing the character's signature ability to manipulate the game board by reducing the cost of opposing characters.
The card features distinct illustrative work that highlights the cinematic flair characteristic of the Paramount War set. The artwork was crafted to evoke the detached, icy intensity Kuzan displays during the series, utilizing a dynamic composition that separates it from standard card iterations. Upon release, it was highly sought after by competitive players for its utility in meta-relevant control decks, while collectors gravitated toward its textured foil finish and the rarity of its specific alternate art treatment.
