Where it came from
Sakazuki, better known by his alias Akainu, first appeared in the One Piece Card Game as a pivotal card in the Paramount War set. This reprint, featured in the Premium Booster -The Best- collection, serves to make the powerful Leader and Character cards accessible to a wider player base. The design retains the original striking aesthetic, which focuses on the character's Magma-Magma Fruit powers through intense, volcanic color palettes and dynamic action-oriented compositions typical of the series' high-stakes combat depictions.
The character design was originally conceptualized by Eiichiro Oda, emphasizing Sakazuki’s rigid and ruthless adherence to Absolute Justice. In the card game meta, the card is renowned for its strategic utility, often praised for its ability to manipulate the board state and remove opposing threats. The decision to include it in the -The Best- set reflects its status as a defining card in the game's competitive history, catering to both collectors who appreciate the series' iconography and players looking to bolster their decks with proven, impactful cards.
