Provenance

Where it came from

The Nero card from the Pillars of Strength set, designated OP03-087, was released in 2023 as part of the third expansion for the One Piece Card Game. This set was designed to bolster the purple color archetype, with Nero representing the CP9 faction. The card features an illustration consistent with the Eiichiro Oda aesthetic, focusing on the character's agile and combative presence within the Enies Lobby story arc.

The design of the card emphasizes Nero's role as a secondary antagonist, utilizing the game's mechanics to introduce strategic board manipulation common to the purple deck identity. As a pre-release promotional card, it was distributed during organized play events, marking a period of rapid growth for the game as it expanded its competitive footprint globally and solidified its mechanics for tactical play.
