Where it came from
The card 'Never Existed... in the First Place...' originates from the 'Carrying On His Will' expansion set, designated as OP13-098. Within the context of the game's broader narrative, this event card serves to reflect thematic elements of erasure and legacy, mechanics often employed in the series to manipulate board state by removing character presence or influence. It belongs to a wave of releases intended to introduce more reactive, utility-based gameplay strategies for players looking to pivot away from aggressive combat-centric archetypes.
The visual design of this card leans into the minimalist, high-contrast aesthetic typical of the 'Carrying On His Will' series. It was likely composed by the franchise’s recurring illustrative team, who sought to evoke a sense of detachment and fading reality to match the card's namesake ability. Upon its release, the design was noted by players for its stark departure from the action-heavy imagery common in the set, signaling a shift toward psychological and strategic themes in the card game's ongoing development.
