Provenance

Where it came from

Otsuru, cataloged as OP01-036, was released in the inaugural Romance Dawn set for the One Piece Card Game in 2022. As an Uncommon character card, it was designed to introduce players to the mechanics of the Blue color deck, focusing on the tactical manipulation of the character roster. The card depicts the character from the Wano Country arc, emphasizing the game's intent to draw directly from the source manga's extensive narrative history to build its mechanical ecosystem.

The card's design aesthetic mirrors the clean, bold visual language established by Bandai for the One Piece trading card line, prioritizing readability and thematic accuracy. Illustrators for the series generally aim to replicate Eiichiro Oda's distinct character proportions while adapting them to a layout optimized for competitive play. Upon release, cards from the Romance Dawn set were well received by the community for their high production values and their successful bridge between collectibility and strategic depth.
