Where it came from
The Sabo Alternate Art leader card from the 'Carrying On His Will' expansion (OP13) was released as part of the One Piece Card Game, a strategic trading card game developed by Bandai that launched in 2022. This specific card reflects the 'Revolutionary Army' thematic focus of the set, drawing directly from the character's narrative role as the chief of staff of the Revolutionary Army and the inheritor of Ace's Flame-Flame Fruit powers.
The design utilizes high-fidelity character illustration intended to capture the kinetic and dramatic aesthetic synonymous with the long-running One Piece manga series. As an alternate art leader, it features a stylized, premium-foil treatment that distinguishes it from the base-set equivalent. Upon its release, these alternate art iterations were met with significant demand from both competitive players and collectors, who prioritize the unique artistic interpretations and the high-rarity status of the card within the game's evolving meta.
