Where it came from
The Sai character card (OP15-045) was produced as a promotional release event card for the Adventure on Kami's Island set of the Dragon Ball Super Card Game. These release events were designed to coincide with the rollout of new expansions, providing players with unique, commemorative versions of cards that often featured alternative art or foil treatments to encourage organized play and community participation.
The character design reflects the aesthetic of the Dragon Ball Super series, adhering to the established visual language of the franchise. The illustration aims to capture Sai's combat readiness and signature pose, consistent with the thematic focus on the island-based narrative arc of the set. Like many promotional cards from these events, it was distributed through authorized game stores to active tournament participants and was generally well-received by collectors who prioritize thematic completeness and limited-run event exclusives.
