Provenance

Where it came from

The Sai character card was released in 2022 as part of the initial OP01 -ROMANCE DAWN- set, which marked the debut of the One Piece Card Game. This set was designed to introduce the core mechanics of the trading card game to a global audience, drawing heavily from the early arcs of the manga and anime series. The card features Sai, the 13th leader of the Happo Navy, depicted in a style consistent with the vibrant, high-energy aesthetic established by the Bandai design team for the game's launch.

The card was crafted to represent the Straw Hat Grand Fleet's members within the game's strategic landscape, focusing on the balanced gameplay mechanics intended for the red-color affinity. It reflects the broader design philosophy of the -ROMANCE DAWN- collection, which sought to blend nostalgic character portrayals with modern, competitive card interactions. Upon release, the set was met with significant enthusiasm from collectors and players, effectively establishing the foundation for the game's ongoing competitive ecosystem.
