Provenance

Where it came from

The Sai character card, numbered OP01-012, was released as part of the initial launch of the One Piece Card Game in 2022. Designed by Bandai, this set was created to introduce players to the trading card game mechanics based on the long-running manga and anime series by Eiichiro Oda. The character Sai, a member of the Happo Navy, reflects the tactical, thematic focus of the 'Red' deck color in the game, which emphasizes aggressive play and character synergies derived from the Dressrosa arc.

The design of the card utilizes official character art consistent with the One Piece aesthetic, focusing on clear, functional layouts for competitive play. As a staple of the early demo and starter decks, it was intended to familiarize new players with the card types and combat system. The card received a positive reception from the gaming community for its accessibility and its faithful representation of the source material, serving as a foundational piece for players building early-game deck strategies.
