Sakazuki

The Sakazuki character card, designated OP02-099, was released in February 2023 as part of the Paramount War expansion set for the One Piece Card Game. This set was designed to commemorate the iconic Marineford arc from the original manga and anime series, a pivotal storyline centered on the high-stakes confrontation between the World Government and the Whitebeard Pirates. The card features the Admiral Akainu, known as Sakazuki, reflecting his role as a central antagonist whose uncompromising sense of absolute justice drives much of the tension within the narrative.

The artistic design for this character card emphasizes the imposing and volatile nature of Sakazuki's magma-based powers, utilizing the striking, high-contrast aesthetic characteristic of the One Piece trading card line. By portraying the Admiral in a dynamic, ready-for-battle stance, the illustrator aimed to capture the intensity of his presence during the Paramount War. Upon release, the card was widely received by players as a competitive staple, prized for its strategic utility and its thematic relevance to the series' most consequential battles.
