Provenance

Where it came from

The Yamato (OP01-121) card was released in 2022 as part of Romance Dawn, the inaugural set of the One Piece Card Game. Produced by Bandai, this parallel rare variant features the character Yamato, a pivotal figure introduced during the Wano Country Arc of Eiichiro Oda’s long-running manga series. The card was designed to capitalize on the character's immediate popularity following their debut in the source material, positioning them as a high-value chase card for collectors during the game's launch.

The visual design of this parallel version utilizes a distinctive aesthetic that departs from the standard card art by employing a stylized, metallic-foil treatment and unique character illustration. It was crafted to appeal to both competitive players and series enthusiasts, emphasizing the dynamic nature of Yamato’s design. Upon release, the card was widely received as one of the most desirable items in the set, serving as an early benchmark for the market value and collectability of the game's higher-rarity character cards.
