Where it came from
The Altaria SV37/94 card was released in 2019 as part of the Hidden Fates expansion for the Pokémon Trading Card Game. This set was notable for the 'Shiny Vault' sub-set, which featured a collection of rare, differently colored versions of popular Pokémon. The expansion was designed to celebrate the history of the game by incorporating shiny variants that had become highly sought after by collectors due to their distinct aesthetic departure from standard card designs.
The artwork for this specific card features the Dragon-type Altaria rendered with a shimmering, metallic-toned aesthetic characteristic of the Shiny Vault series. This design approach sought to highlight the rarity and visual prestige of shiny Pokémon, bridging the gap between competitive gameplay and high-end aesthetic collecting. Upon its release, the card was widely received by the collector community as a centerpiece of the set, praised for its cohesive design and the tactile, textured foil finish that defined the Hidden Fates master set.
