Where it came from
The Big Parasol card, numbered 199/189, was released in the 2020 Pokémon Trading Card Game expansion, Darkness Ablaze. This set was notable for its heavy focus on the Legendary Pokémon Eternatus and served as a bridge between the initial Sword & Shield base set and the later expansion blocks of the generation. The Big Parasol was introduced as a Trainer item card designed to provide a tactical advantage against status-inflicting effects, reflecting the game's shift toward more nuanced defensive mechanics during the VMAX era.
The illustration for this secret-rare iteration features a vibrant, holographic finish that distinguishes it from the standard version of the card. As with many items in the Sword & Shield series, the design follows a functional, clean aesthetic that highlights the utility of the item within the game’s competitive landscape. Upon its release, it was regarded by collectors and competitive players alike as a valuable technical addition to deck building, appreciated for both its practical utility in shielding Pokémon and its aesthetic contribution to the master set.
