Where it came from
The Championship Arena card was released in 2004 as part of the Nintendo Black Star Promos set, specifically assigned number 28. This card was not available in standard booster packs; rather, it was distributed exclusively to participants of the 2004 Pokémon TCG World Championships in Orlando, Florida. Its creation served as a commemorative reward for the most dedicated players who traveled to compete on the global stage.
The card features an illustration by Kouki Saitou, a prominent artist in the Pokémon Trading Card Game franchise known for his clean, expressive style. The artwork depicts a grand, stadium-like structure, reflecting the competitive spirit of the World Championships. Within the game mechanics, the card provides a balanced effect that benefits both players, aligning with the spirit of fair play and camaraderie emphasized during the early years of the organized play circuit.
