Where it came from
Released in the year 2000 as part of the Neo Discovery expansion, this Houndour card introduced players and collectors to the then-new Johto region Pokémon. Neo Discovery was the second set in the Neo series for the Pokémon Trading Card Game, which followed the Gold and Silver video games. It was designed to bridge the gap between the original Kanto-based mechanics and the updated gameplay features of the second generation.
The artwork for this card was created by the illustrator Kyoko Umemoto, who frequently contributed to the early TCG expansions. Her design aesthetic for Houndour emphasizes the creature's dark and fire-type dual nature, capturing it in a poised, predatory stance.
