Provenance

Where it came from

The Skarmory card from the Skyridge expansion was released in 2003 as part of the final set produced by Wizards of the Coast for the Pokémon Trading Card Game. Skyridge was the third and final installment of the e-Card Series, which featured distinct dot-code borders along the sides of the cards designed to be scanned by the Nintendo e-Reader peripheral to unlock mini-games and Pokédex entries.

This particular card features artwork by Kyoko Umemoto, who captured the steel-type avian Pokémon in a clean, minimalist style consistent with the design language of the e-Card era. As a common card within the set, it served as an accessible addition for players and collectors during a transitional period for the game, as the license was shortly thereafter transferred to The Pokémon Company and Nintendo.
