Provenance

Where it came from

Spearow, card number 92/130, was released in the 2000 Base Set 2 expansion. This set served as a retrospective compilation for the Pokémon Trading Card Game, reissuing popular cards from the original Base Set and the Jungle expansion to ensure that players could still access core gameplay staples as the hobby expanded rapidly in international markets.

The card features artwork by Keiji Kinebuchi, whose distinct, painterly style defined many of the early Colorless-type Pokémon cards. By utilizing a soft, textured approach, Kinebuchi captured the frenetic energy of the Tiny Bird Pokémon. The release was well-received by the player base at the time, as it bridged the gap between the initial craze and the transition into the Neo series, providing a refreshed visual catalog for collectors.
