Vaporeon

Released in May 2012, Vaporeon 25/108 is a member of the Dark Explorers expansion, a set that focused on the integration of the Generation V Pokémon into the trading card game meta. This particular card was designed to highlight Vaporeon as a water-type utility, featuring artwork by Mizue, a long-time illustrator for the franchise whose style emphasizes fluid, expressive movement. The design team focused on creating a balanced, uncommon card that could serve as a functional bridge for players building water-based decks during the era of Black & White sets.

The Dark Explorers expansion is historically noted by enthusiasts for its inclusion of Dark-type variants and the introduction of powerful Pokémon-EX. Vaporeon 25/108 fits into this broader context as an accessible staple, valued for its clean aesthetic and typical card stock consistency of the time. While not a centerpiece of competitive play like the high-rarity cards of the set, its enduring appeal lies in its reliable depiction of one of the original Eeveelutions, remaining a sought-after piece for collectors focused on thematic Eevee evolution sets.
