Vaporeon

The Vaporeon BW89 card was released in 2013 as part of the Black Star Promos set, a collection of cards distributed through various promotional channels outside of standard expansion booster packs. This particular iteration of the Bubble Jet Pokémon was created to coincide with the release of the Plasma Freeze expansion, serving as a specialized inclusion for players and collectors who frequented specific retail outlets or regional events during the Black & White series era.

The card features artwork by Naoki Saito, a prominent illustrator within the Pokémon Trading Card Game whose work is recognized for its dynamic use of color and expressive character poses. In this design, Saito emphasizes Vaporeon's water-based nature with a fluid, swirling background that captures the creature in a ready stance, a hallmark of the artist's ability to imbue the Pokémon with a sense of kinetic energy while maintaining the functional clarity required for competitive play.
