Where it came from
Released in 1979 on the CNR label, this single by Wim Kersten en de Viltjes captured the spirit of the Dutch carnival music scene during a period of transition. The track Bloemetjesgordijn became a staple of communal singing, reflecting the lighthearted, often tongue-in-cheek lyrical style that defined Kersten’s career as a prominent regional artist from the south of the Netherlands.
The song's design and arrangement emphasize the upbeat, melodic, and accessible sound characteristic of the Dutch levenslied genre. While the production is straightforward, its enduring popularity relies on its nostalgia-inducing quality, which solidified the track as a classic within the specific context of Dutch pop culture and local pub music traditions.
