Where it came from
Der Dorn was released in 2017 as a self-published work by Swiss composer Balz Trümpy. As a contemporary classical piece, it emerges from Trümpy’s long-standing dedication to avant-garde composition, often characterized by a rigorous approach to structure and a focus on the subtle, evolving textures of modern instrumentation.
The record reflects Trümpy’s interest in the intersection of acoustic performance and minimalist theory. Eschewing the conventional structures of commercial record labels, this release serves as an intimate documentation of his artistic process. It is a niche work intended for a specialized audience of experimental music enthusiasts, valued primarily for its uncompromising adherence to the composer's unique aesthetic vision rather than for broad commercial appeal.
