Where it came from
Released in 1962 by the prestigious label Les Discophiles Français, this recording serves as a significant contribution to the rediscovery of Giuseppe Tartini’s chamber and orchestral works. The label was renowned during the mid-20th century for its high production standards and commitment to capturing authentic performances of Baroque and Classical repertoire, often utilizing high-fidelity recording techniques to emphasize clarity and instrumental balance.
The performance features violinist Stanley Weiner alongside Jean Lamy and Antoine Geoffroy-Dechaume, performers associated with the period-informed approach to Baroque music that was gaining momentum in the early 1960s. The release reflects the label's typical focus on scholarly rigor and aesthetic presentation, aiming to bring Tartini’s technically demanding violin concertos and intimate sonatas to a refined audience of classical music connoisseurs.
