Hans-Dieter Meyer-Moortgat Spielt Klavierwerke Von R. Schumann, M. Reger, F. Liszt

This private press recording, released in 1986 under the catalog number F 669 583, captures the pianist Hans-Dieter Meyer-Moortgat performing works by Robert Schumann, Max Reger, and Franz Liszt. As an independent, non-label production, this release functions as a personal archival project, typical of mid-1980s classical musician self-releases aimed at documenting a specific recital repertoire or showcasing individual artistry for a limited audience of peers and students.

The recording context reflects a period when solo instrumentalists often utilized small-run, independent pressings to bypass the restrictive catalogs of major record labels. The selection of repertoire, spanning from the Romanticism of Schumann and Liszt to the late-Romantic complexity of Reger, suggests a program curated to demonstrate technical breadth and interpretive maturity. Due to its status as a private pressing, there is no significant critical record in commercial music publications, leaving its historical legacy tied primarily to the local musical circles in which Meyer-Moortgat was active.
