Kahani Kismat Ki / Kashmakash / Dost

This compilation record from Roebuck Record brings together soundtracks from three distinct Hindi cinema productions: Kahani Kismat Ki, Kashmakash, and Dost. Released during a period when the Indian film music industry frequently packaged popular songs from multiple blockbusters onto a single long-playing disc, this album showcases the work of legendary composer duos Kalyanji-Anandji and Laxmikant-Pyarelal. These soundtracks were central to the musical landscape of 1970s Bollywood, defined by the era's signature blend of orchestral arrangements and soulful melodies.

The design of these compilation records often prioritized utility and aesthetic accessibility, featuring colorful cover art intended to draw attention in local music shops. As a mid-tier label release, the packaging reflects the era's standard production practices for mass-market vinyl. While the individual films varied in their critical and commercial reception, the music remains a testament to the prolific nature of the composers involved, who dominated the film music charts throughout the decade.
