Where it came from
Released in 1978 on the ARC label, this single represents a piece of the OPM (Original Pilipino Music) era, a period during the late 1970s characterized by the rise of local singer-songwriters and the mainstreaming of Tagalog-language pop recordings. Margie Ponce de Leon was part of this burgeoning scene, which saw labels like ARC providing a platform for artists to blend melodic pop sensibilities with the evolving aesthetics of the local recording industry.
The production of ARC-597 is typical of the 1970s Filipino studio sound, emphasizing vocal clarity and orchestral pop arrangements that were common for radio play of the time. While the record functions as a snapshot of the regional pop soundscape of the late 70s, it remains a sought-after piece for collectors of Philippine vinyl who focus on preserving the output of independent labels from that decade.
