Konzert Für Klavier Und Orchester A-Moll Op.54 / Konzertstück Für Klavier Und Orchester Op.139 / Introduction Und Allegro Op.92

Released in 1963 on the Heliodor label, this recording features the Austrian pianist Jörg Demus performing Robert Schumann’s Piano Concerto in A Minor, Op. 54, alongside the Konzertstück, Op. 139, and the Introduction and Allegro, Op. 92. Heliodor was established by Deutsche Grammophon as a budget-conscious reissue label, designed to make high-quality performances from their extensive classical archives accessible to a broader listening public during the post-war expansion of the vinyl market.

Jörg Demus, a celebrated interpreter of the Romantic repertoire, was known for his thoughtful, nuanced approach to Schumann’s work. By the time this pressing was released, these recordings had already gained respect for their technical precision and poetic sensibility. The design of the Heliodor sleeve followed the minimalist, functional aesthetics typical of mid-century European classical releases, prioritizing clarity and the association with the prestigious Deutsche Grammophon catalog to signal authenticity to collectors.
