Konzert Für Klavier Und Orchester C-Dur KV 415 / Klaviersonate F-Dur KV 280 / Variationen C-Dur KV 265 "Ah, Vours Dirai-Je, Maman

Released by Deutsche Grammophon in 1966, this recording features the Romanian pianist Clara Haskil performing alongside the Festival Strings Lucerne under the direction of Rudolf Baumgartner. The album captures Haskil’s refined approach to the Mozart repertoire, a composer for whom she was widely considered the definitive interpreter of the mid-20th century. Recorded in the years following her sudden death in 1960, these tracks preserve the grace and structural clarity that defined her late-career legacy.

The album includes Piano Concerto No. 13 in C major, K. 415, the Piano Sonata in F major, K. 280, and the famous Variations on 'Ah, vous dirai-je, Maman', K. 265. Deutsche Grammophon presented these performances with the clean, sophisticated aesthetic typical of the 1960s 'Yellow Label' era, prioritizing high-fidelity archival quality. Upon release, the record was lauded for Haskil's nuanced phrasing and her ability to articulate Mozart’s complex playfulness without resorting to excessive sentimentality.
