Konzert Für Klavier Und Orchester D-dur Kv 451 / Konzert Für Klavier Und Orchester G-dur Kv 453

Released in 1976 by the East German state-owned label ETERNA, this recording features the pianist Annerose Schmidt performing two of Mozart’s piano concertos alongside the Dresdner Philharmonie under the baton of Kurt Masur. The production reflects the high standard of classical music recording cultivated in the German Democratic Republic during the mid-twentieth century, a period when state-subsidized orchestras and labels worked to establish a distinctively refined sound within the broader European classical tradition.

The collaboration between Schmidt and Masur was well-regarded for its technical precision and adherence to a balanced, structured interpretation of the classical repertoire. ETERNA was noted for its clean engineering and clear, reliable pressings, which helped maintain the international prestige of East German musicians despite the political isolation of the era. This specific pairing of concertos, K. 451 and K. 453, serves as a representative example of the label's commitment to archiving the core canon of the Viennese masters through the work of domestic soloists and ensembles.
