Lamia / SIY

Released in 1986 on the Polish label Tonpress, this single features the track 'Lamia' by the band Omni. Tonpress was a significant label during the 1980s in Poland, often serving as a primary outlet for new wave, rock, and electronic artists navigating the state-controlled music industry. The release sits within the broader context of the Polish post-punk and synth-pop scene of the mid-eighties, a period characterized by artists blending western musical influences with local underground sensibilities.

The record is a notable example of the era's experimentation with synthesizers and atmospheric production. As with many Tonpress releases of the time, the aesthetic of the sleeve and the sonic choices reflect the distinct, somewhat stark design language prevalent in Eastern Bloc music production during the decade. While Omni did not achieve widespread international fame, their contribution to the Tonpress catalog remains a point of interest for collectors of niche European electronic and new wave records.
