Le Coeur Gros

Le Coeur Gros was released in 1987 on the EPM Musique label as part of a series focused on French chanson and contemporary poetic expression. Produced during a period when independent French labels were working to archive and promote unique vocal talents, the record serves as a showcase for Régis Leroy’s particular sensibilities. The project was conceived to capture a refined, introspective atmosphere, typical of the chanson tradition that sought to balance acoustic intimacy with thoughtful lyrical arrangements.

The visual identity and production of the release were designed to reflect the understated aesthetic of EPM’s catalog in the late 1980s. While not a mainstream commercial hit, the record was received by critics as a sincere contribution to the French independent scene, noted for its cohesive mood and adherence to classic songwriting structures. It remains a representative artifact of how boutique labels during this era preserved artistic visions that fell outside the reach of major record conglomerates.
