Released under the Folk Dancer label, this 78-rpm record was part of a broader series curated by Michael Herman, a pivotal figure in the mid-century American folk dance movement. These records were produced primarily to serve the instructional needs of dance groups and physical education programs, providing standardized music for traditional Israeli folk dances that were gaining popularity in international circles after the establishment of the State of Israel.

Elyakum Shapirra, a musician and conductor with a deep background in orchestral performance, provided the arrangements for these tracks to capture a lively, accessible sound suitable for group participation. The series is remembered for its functional design and straightforward presentation, reflecting a period when folk music was preserved and disseminated as a communal, tactile experience through organized recreational activity.
