Where it came from
Released in 1965 on the Decca label, this Spanish-market extended play (EP) reflects the era's strategy of internationalizing Tom Jones’s rapidly rising profile. Following his breakthrough with It's Not Unusual, record labels sought to capture non-English speaking markets by localized releases that paired his signature hits with carefully selected tracks to bridge the gap between his soul-influenced pop and the expectations of continental European listeners.
The sleeve design follows the standard aesthetic of the mid-1960s Decca international division, favoring a bold, portrait-centric presentation to establish the artist's persona. The release was part of a concerted effort to capitalize on the British Invasion’s dominance by ensuring that Jones was marketed not just as a UK star, but as a global romantic crooner, a move that successfully laid the groundwork for his enduring popularity in Spanish-speaking territories.
