Paganini (Extraits Chantés En Français)

Paganini, composed by Franz Lehár, premiered in Vienna in 1925 and represents the composer's successful transition into a more sophisticated, romantic style of operetta. This specific release, catalog number DTX 30501 on the Pathé label, captures a selection of the work's vocal highlights sung in French, showcasing a mid-century tradition of adapting popular central European operettas for Francophone audiences.

The recording features a collaborative effort between the Orchestre de la Société des Concerts du Conservatoire and conductor Franck Pourcel, known for his ability to blend classical precision with accessible arrangements. By featuring vocalists like Michel Dens and Nadine Sautereau, the record reflects the high standards of French operatic performance during the era, aiming to preserve the melodic charm of Lehár's score while presenting it with the polished, orchestral production values characteristic of Pathé's mid-century classical catalog.
