Querido Povo Português / Desdenhar / Duas Vidas / Não Vamos Querê-la Demais

Released on the Vitória label in the mid-1960s, this EP is a representative artifact of the Portuguese popular music scene during the Estado Novo period. José Rebocho was a consistent presence in the light music landscape of the time, contributing to a genre often categorized as 'música ligeira.' These recordings were intended for the domestic market, providing an accessible, melodic sound that balanced traditional lyrical themes with the arrangements favored by contemporary radio and cabaret audiences.

The EP features a standard design aesthetic typical of Vitória's mid-century releases, utilizing clean typography and studio photography to project a polished, approachable image for the artist. While Rebocho is remembered primarily by aficionados of mid-century Portuguese vinyl, these pressings serve as important historical markers for the sonic identity of Portugal in the decades preceding the 1974 Carnation Revolution, illustrating the styles that occupied the airwaves before the influx of broader international trends.
